the craziest part of gyarados is that it doesn't even have usable physical flying STAB, so even after all this time it's still not even using its full potential. it can still be even better.

alakazam and gyarados occupy the same niche as far as normal singleplayer is concerned.
arguably also machamp and golem since they have the same availability, but not relative strength.
GF uses mons like these every game because they're easy to fit into a region and have obvious roles that they perform well.
