Regionals suck ass because they change what makes me like an existing Pokemon, so a Pokemon getting a regional rather then a mega (which builds on their existing traits more often then not) feels like a waste
Regionals also make no fucking sense ecologically, they're just an excuse to do "X Pokemon but with Y type", rather then actually feeling like regional subspecies. No amount of evolutionary adaptation is going to turn an animal into a fucking icecube because it's on a different island
