I like the idea but the designers had no idwa what they were doing and threw a bunch of random bullshit at the wall both gens we got megas. On paper I like Megas more than Gigantamax but Gigantamax had leagues better design cohesion

Design: they dropped the ball with ZA's batch
Gameplay: They had the right idea with the XY megas' power levels, then they went too far with ORAS, and now with ZA it feels like they're overcorrecting and making them too weak.

In theory, yes, but sadly, the majority of them look like complete trash they literally look like fake evolutions made by kids. Most of the time the evolutions don’t look natural.

Aggron is a good example of looking like a 4th evo.

The idea is cool, but I prefer regional forms now. Temporary transformations are just not as interesting as totally different remixes of the pokemon.

Bringing back classic Pokemon for a new transformation is always fun. Like new Evolutions but more EXTREME.
Ohmori wanted to make the other gimmicks balanced around everything, but they have much less staying power.

I tried playing smogon ZA 6v6.
Literally impossible to tell which is the mega
When 5/6 Pokémon on the opposing team can mega evolve. It's only obvious when you see bad mons like meganium or Lucario
Competitive will be unplayable
