No. It’s still a raichu, it’s just too much of a piece of shit to get a mega. Though the real raichu is so hideous it needed a distinct live appearance similar to that of Pikachu to get anyone to like it

Yes, theories aren’t objective facts. Hell, even in the leaked notes from last year, and in other media/interviews we have messages from the devs talking about how most of the “myths/theories” mentioned in the dex entries are bullshit: Kadabra’s is Kafka’s Metamorphosis. Masuda has gone on record multiple times in both interviews and notes saying none of the Sinnoh myths about Pokemon- legendary or otherwise- are literal; the Galar fossils’ dex entries are made up on the spot by Cara Liss; Kyogre and Groudon didn’t make the land and the sea but people think they did. In the BW2 notes they also mention that there might not have ever *been* an “Original Dragon” and that Kyurem may actually be a closely related life form that independently evolved to absorb Reshiram and Zekrom; even Juniper ingame suggests that nothing said- nor interpreted- in the mythos is meant to be taken as anything more than hypothesis.

The spculation of characters in-universe isn’t, and has never meant to be, a stipulation of objective truth; they aren’t omniscient.

It was finally clarified in the Teraleak design documents that Alolan Raichu is essentially an alien mutant. The pancakes Alolan Raichu likes to eat are made with a spice created from processed Ultra Space toxins that alter it's biology. It can't Mega Evolve because it's fundamentally tainted by alien mutagens.

Huh. That's EXACTLY what's going on with slowbro too. Galarica Nuts are explictly full of Galar Particles.

Actually, hold the phone.
Slowpoke gains poison. Eternatus is Poison.
Raichu gains psychic. Necrozma is Psychic.

That makes a LOT of sense.

Despite being the biggest franchise on Earth, Game Freak still operates like an indie team where each member has off multiple roles.
Especially in the early days, where Masuda is both the composer and a programmer, and after he took over the series starting with GS to XY, he's the director AND composer AND the lead writer for the main plot scenario of each new base versions. Literally no one else at Game Freak and The Pokemon Company has this much control over every aspect of Pokemon, especially worldbuilding, besides Tajiri during Gen 1.
