Nishino's done fuck all and Sugimori's been phoning it in since Gen 2 out of spite for not being able to draw porn of underage Quinty.
Meanwhile, Masuda stepped up during Gen 2 when everyone else was too chicken shit to do anything and has tard wrangling Game Freak for decades until Ohmori when running to Nintendo like a little bitch causing Masuda to get kicked upstairs, Yes, Masuda's a brain-rotten jackass now and even back in Gen 2 he barely knew that he was doing, but managing Game Freak is full of retards, how the fuck do you manage tthem?

He's always on the battle side of development so... I guess? If he did both level design and NPC trainer teams for earlier gens, it stands to reason he also wrote their dialogues.

NPC trainers' pokemon are by default the same gender as the trainer. I assume in case of double battles the trainer is still internally assigned a gender in the same way as other trainers even though they represent two people that are treated as a single trainer for gameplay purposes.

Unironically agree. Masuda being kicked off mid-development of XY truly does say it all, doesn’t it? It’s the last game that truly feels like it belongs to his era, but it’s unfinished and lacking.

He may not be someone like Tajiri or Masuda or Ohmori or Sugimori who often get interviews talking about their vision for the franchise, but you can very much feel his impact on the series when he's at the helm doing the nitty gritty work of making the routes and cities we move around in, the wild pokemon we encounter and the npc trainers we fight against >>58774102 >>58773411
If anything it makes Nishino more important than Masuda and Sugimori since his decisions are the ones that affect our minute-to-minute gameplay the most, unlike music and art
