It's not that it's great but it is almost 20 years old and still somehow looks better than all modern pokemon game battles despite being on worse hardware. Also the best character creation options.

a product of its time really, pokemon didn't have 3d back then, and having that PLUS customizable trainers with customizable quotes really hit the mark
modern gen games could hit the same mark by just fucking with the camera during battles and actually giving battle revolution costumes to players

Just FYI, I tried linking 3DS with this game on the WiiU and it worked no problem. It’s to be expected of course but I was worried it might not work because Nintendo
