All I can really remember that they added in terms of actual land areas and not Ultra Space corridors, was extra beaches on each island that let you play a surfing minigame with Mantine that would transport you from island to island as an added bonus, a clearing in some forest where a bunch of free range Pikachu lived, and Necrozma crashing into Mount Lanakila collapsed part of the landscape and turned it into a proper Victory Road equivalent dungeon.
