I loved using male salandit in sun. I gave it an eviolite and was glad it didn't evolve; I didn't particularly like Salazzle, so it was very fun having a perma-NFE on my team for a change. Only reason I don't do it more often is just because of it prompting me to stop it from evolving all the time.

Regional form-exclusive evolutions piss me off, but I'm assuaged by the fact that it doesn't necessarily mean the regular forms won't get evolutions later (though that's yet to happen). White-striped Basculin is a different story because it's not a regional form, so Red-striped and Blue-striped Basculegion likely just got cucked out of evolving for no real reason.

It's a bit ambiguous whether it's a regional form or not, they'll likely confirm it as one later on. Would be cool if all three Basculin forms got different evos regardless Maybe a Water/Fire for Red-stripe and a Water/Steel for Blue-stripe. And presumably a prevo, their BST is pretty high for a first-stage mon.

I don't mind regionl evolutions if its an alternative evolution, something like Paldean Wooper and Clodsire; or Galarian Yamask and Runerigus.But stuff like Overquil only evolving out of Hissuian Qwilfish or Obstagoon being excclusive 3rd stage to galarian linnone is annoying to me.
Similarly, dippling getting to evolve to Hydrapple, but Appletun and Flapple being dead ends.

Yeah alternative evolutions are fine, I meant evolutions exclusive to regional forms.
I do kinda hope Appletun and Flapple get evolutions too.

there's only a handful of ground/rock type mons dude, most ground or rock mons are something other than rock or ground dual-typed.

fun fact; nature has an example of this. "Larviform Females" are the females of some insect species that either resemble or just straight up never leave their larval form. A cool example is the trilobite beetle, which the larva and females look like trilobites as the name suggests while the males become a generic beetle. Of course, if there was any heart or soul left in the franchise, cool shit like this would be happening and the topic wouldn't have been brought up.
