It's not egregious. Dragon type was legitimate fucking cancer in gen 4 and 5 because of all the high damage outrage and draco meteor spammers. There needed to be an immunity.

dragon type was "cancer" simply because a lot of mons with really high stats were dragon type
the type itself is fine, its the type's mons leaning heavily towards high stats/power that lead to its reputation
offensively dragon is a mid type; it's resisted by steel and only super effective against other dragons, and defensively it was okay but only really shined when combined with other types
