I appreciate their attempt to portray what is effectively a legendary that symbolizes the idea of traditionalism and natural insight. The furry exterior was a bit off-putting when I first saw it, but I've grown to appreciate it over the years. It opposes the progressive aspects presented in Zekrom and Pokémon Black's design as a whole.

I actually kinda liked that they did with its cry. The aim was clearly to make it sound closer to an actual animal cry to make it sound less mechanical and I thought they did a decent job. I personally think Stoutland is the biggest loser in that contest. My only guess as to why they gave it such a drastic change was because they probably thought keeping it as it was but more realistic would've scared some kids, and you can't do that in your big moneymaker.

Design doesn't matter when they've literally classified it as the White Yang Pokemon. Sugimori also designed Venusaur to be a toad, its still the "Seed" Pokemon. Yang is male, if they wanted to actually make Resh female, they'd call it White Yin.
