>>58792596The Pokémon games have been set in non-Japanese inspired regions since gen five, which I think is also the first time we saw non-white/japanese characters with Iris. Set a game in a fantasy world, it’ll have non-Japanese people there. Many such cases.
I live in Japan and have experienced no racism as a Britfag who can moonspeak. But I hear the Japanese complain about the Chinese and Middle Easterners (Indian/Paki etc) all the time.
I think Japan accepts that other countries are diverse, which is why Pokémon games have non-whites. But when it comes to Japan, all major characters need to be 100% Japanese.
And, in the absence of attractive white characters, black guys will have to do. Raihan and Leon were very popular with yume and fujos.
