I wasn't really asking for lore reasons, I meant more so in the sense of why does it have an hidden ability when Ferroseed doesn't.
Though, if we are talking about lore reasons, it's weird Absol doesn't have Anticipation and/or Forewarn, given its whole thing is sensing disasters.

I think Ferroseed (and by extension itself) are supposed to be vaguely based on those burrs that get stuck to your clothes when you go hiking, except made of metal.

From the natural lore and species it's definitely a bunya pine nut, they are huge and their tall trees often have danger signs next to them because the falling pines are deadly threats, I don't know what other themes it got in its design, perhaps a thorned mace and some tripod alien.

its only real weakness was fire right? it was super strong deffensely and anticipation lets you know if it could be OHKO'ed so you'd know to pivot, making it even harder to kill. one flamethrower was deadly to it. fighting wasnt an issue because they are 99% physical and risk getting barbs+helmet'ed to death.

anticipation is the anti-meta to iron barbs. barbs is so good its the meta, but then everyone plans for the meta, and they get bamboozled when its actually anticipation and their HP:fire coverage gets eaten by flash fire heatran

Most butterfly/moth Pokémon learn a lot of Psychic moves by level-up for some reason. idk if it's like a Japanese thing like how Whiscash can learn Dragon Dance due to being based on the Namazu.
