>>58814916Crystal's team is arguably the worst of the Johto trio, and that's saying something because Gold and Silver already lowered the bar. She has a Smoochum at level 48 and Cubone at level 73... Unevolved Pokemon can only work if they have Eviolite (not a thing here), they have busted abilities or moves (they don't) or there's a payoff (there isn't)
Instead, Crys is sabotaging herself by choosing to be weaker for no narrative gain. If Silver's sin is redundancy and Gold's is dependency, Crystal's sin is refusing to grow.
Arcanine carries her team just like how Typhlosion carried Gold and Meganium is a support starter trapped on a team with nothing worth supporting. No screens, no synergy, no defensive core. Meganium isn't bad, it's just abandoned. Parasect gets cooked by Fire and eaten by Flying, Hitmonchan is outclassed by every other Fighting type and Xatu is mid. For a somewhat decent team, I'd give her
>MeganiumSupport unit. Screens, Leech Seed, Aromatherapy. Anchor of the team, not a liability
>ArcanineStill the enforcer. Physical pressure (Extreme Speed, Wild Charge), refuses to die (Morning Sun), Intimidate and the "closer" (Flare Blitz)
>TogekissInstead of Gold, Crystal receives it after he tends to the Togepi egg in order to draw out its potential. Secondary support + para-flinch menace. Ground immunity and keeps dragons in check
>QuagsirePhysical tank, especially with theUnawareability (which ignores the opponent's stat changes), has only one weakness and chances are Crys is less likely to stumble upon a Grass user
>SnorlaxAdds a significant bulk and offensive power to Crystal's team, benefiting from Meganium's ability to create switching opportunities with Leech Seed. Has only one weakness while also being completely immune to Ghost types
>HitmonleeGoes well with her unique style of kicking Poke Balls with her feet after breaking her arms. Primarily serves as afast physical cleaner, aiming to KO weakened opponents late in a battle
