People don't doublespace on the big R on purpose, it does it automatically. If you doublespace on there, it quadruplespaces.
It's some weird formatting thing a bunch of sites do, and the way to avoid doublespacing on any of those sites is shift+space.
Kinda makes me wonder if "reddit spacing" was a meme started here BY Redditors so they'd go to Reddit and quadruplespace there, thus showing they fell for the prank.
That said, doublespacing all your lines is complete shit regardless, outside of specific niche use cases. (Also the lack of any uppercase letters or punctuation is probably the biggest issue here TBQH.)
I'd honestly suggest most people "reddit spacing" are actually phoneposting (phonespacing?) because the text box on mobile is ass and adding line breaks looks fine in a small text box since it'd break up 40 lines of text on your phone, but then it'd end up being 5 line breaks on six lines of text on a PC.
