There are a bunch of sapients living in a forest, hunting each other and stuff. They exist even in Mystery Dungeon timeline. The fact that those savage animalistic pokemon can be recruited and be your party members and live in your house and shop and stuff proves that they are just as sapient as "civilized" PMD pokemon living in villages. You just need to explain how civilization works (and figure out language barrier), then you can have your wife. Alternatively you can just return to monke and live in a forest with your new mate.
