If anything it'll get a new signature ability that powers up ground moves and makes it immune to electric, basically to give it the Ground typing without it having the x4 Ice weakness, but that would only be if GameFreak actually had a brain.

Draco Meteor mindrot, still good but I would have liked an odd take on its typing, like turn it into a Ground / Flying instead since the archetype of a Special Attacking Ground / Flying isn't covered yet. Also Garchomp getting Air Slash and Hurricane would be really funny

Yeah but when competitive permanently moves to champions, Z is going to be better even if it runs an useless ability like Levitate (and I mean come on, we know it will) just because it's not a speed loss compared to normal chomp

This was basically what I wanted for Mega Flygon a decade ago before learning it wouldn’t get a Mega.

Regular Mega Garchomp enhances its land shark qualities while Z focuses on the jet part of its design. I'm guessing their mindset is that Garchomp Z would drop the Ground typing to be a better flier, and they didn't give it Flying because they didn't want Garchomp to keep being 2x weak to Ice, plus Mega Dragonite and Salamence are Dragon/Flying too

I highly doubt it, they always have more announcements, Pokemon day will probably confirm SV events will be just repeated ad infinitum since we got a new game, announce Garchomp Z event for Z-A and end the direct with WW reveal (after a lot of minor spin off shit of course)
