I'm still mad. This type unironically ruins the type chart and doesn't even provide the 'balance' it was attempting to.
First of all, it retconned the types of a tonne of Pokemon, and a lot of these don't even make any sense. Why is Marill now a Fairy type? Why is Togepi a Fairy type? Why is Jigglypuff, a 'balloon' a Normal/Fairy type, but Snubbull, a 'dog fairy', is just pure Fairy type?
Then you have the type matchups which seems to based entirely on a poor attempt at 'balancing'. Fairy beating Dark makes sense, but why tf does it beat Dragon and Fighting? If a twinkly little fairy suddenly appeared my Hitmonlee could easily boot it across the room and through the drywall. And if they had a problem with Dragon types being overpowered, maybe they shouldn't have introduced 35 strong Dragon mons between Gens 3-5? Dragon type was supposed to be a rare boss type in the early days. Why didn't they keep it that way?
Ironically the result of this is that Fairy is the new overpowered type - Poison is an unpopular type that no-one really wants to use, and Steel is more of a defense-based type.
Worst of all, it seems as though the only real qualifier for whether or not a Pokemon is 'Fairy' is how pink it is. Which is a stupid reason to determine the type of a Pokemon.
I hate this type and so should you.
