Modifying Mew's baby until it was born as Mewtwo is one thing, but then implying Mew went through countless other children who were deformed and experimented on just makes the whole thing unnecessarily edgy. Maybe that would've been kickass in the gen 1 days, but Pokemon is a squeaky clean global franchise for infants, you can't have lore like that be openly promoted or it hurts the brand's image and causes a potential PR controversy when political nutjobs latch onto the thing and draw their own retarded conclusions about how there's a "deeper meaning" behind it that just so happens to tie into their political agenda.
