I recognise it is a nitpick, but I would have never noticed or complained if they just had made all villain male. What actually solidified my feeling that GF just don't want female villains was their sudden backtracking they did with Lusamine character in USUM.
Like, they had a natural and competent female villain in the series for the first time and suddenly they were like "Fuck No" and bring back all the villain of previous games and made Faba betray her.
It was just so on the nose that since then, I can't help but think about that every time a new male villain, or a villainess who isn't truly evil, appears.
