I hate this fucking art. I love the watercolor Sugimori style (on the original Pokemon) but I hate that they have to make it look textured differently in order to help differentiate this from the normal form.

I know, the shooting star motif was right there! Hell, even if they had to stick with the long legs, turn the front starfish gold and extend two of the appendages down in a way that makes sense for Starmie, instead of just making them human legs for no reason.

Starmie goes from its perfectly good normal form and tries to change itself to unsuccessfully pass itself off as something it could never actually be (a human) and it looks weird and unsettling and nobody likes it. the problem with joke evolutions are that the people they appeal to are not the preexisting fanbase of the base design that wanted to see the themes they liked further explored. Instead they feel like the butt of a joke

I just wanted it to start floating and be a UFO.

>change the gemstone to something rounder and larger, maybe orange or yellow for color
>change the metallic bands around it to be pretty much a circle around the gem on one side
>have the limbs flatten, have the back limbs always be rotating
>it floats above the ground with its gem facing upwards and its back facing the ground
>when it uses special moves it shoots light directly up into space
>it gets Levitate as its mega ability
>it gets a buttload of spatk and speed, maybe add some spdef to balance it out
that's what I would have done. I like it much better.
