Hello guys, I want to know your honest opinion about pic related. Now that the dust has settled, was this such a horrible disrespect to the fans? Or was it just a silly Easter egg that doesn't really affect ORAS's overall quality as a game?

Disrespect. HGSS gave us a full Battle Frontier, albeit a copypasta of Platinum's, compared to Crystal's Battle Tower. ORAS gave us a single Battle Maison copypasta'd from XY compared to Emerald's Battle Frontier.
Unlike Emerald, one could raise competitive level Pokémon within a reasonable amount of time in ORAS and would've made the Battle Frontier much more accessible. Add in all the new battle formats that are in Gen 6 and not Gen 3, and you would've gotten an expanded or revamped Battle Frontier.
There's also all the other Emerald additions missing from ORAS and its Delta episode, but the Battle Frontier is the biggest loss.

Then we all got our hands on the game and find out that it’s true and that they quite literally just cut and pasted the Maison from XY in instead of having the Battle Tower at the very least. Add onto that Masuda’s quote in the pic well after the fact and it made sense why Pokemon went to complete shit once they went 3D.

Gen 2 would've been canceled because Tajiri had a meltie and bailed when GameFreak's incompetent fucktardedness couldn't catch lightning in a bottle twice to successfully make Pokemon 2 within his personal deadline, and that left GameFreak as a bunch of headless chickens until Masuda stepped in.
This board wouldn't exist, nor would your strong attachment to the franchise, because Pokemon would've been a novelty game that lived and died in the late 90's.

First of all, I did play the Battle Frontier when Emerald came out, and I completed all 7 Silver Symbols, plus 3 or 4 Gold ones.

That said, I don't care about the Battle Frontier's absence from ORAS personally, and I am not one of the guys who complain about it.

I'm OP, and my personal opinion is that ORAS shouldn't have mentioned the Battle Frontier AT ALL, since the Battle Maison is more than good enough as a replacement.

Oh an btw, I don't think the OP picture is that bad. The bigger problem (that nobody ever brings up) is a male Ace Trainer NPC next to the Battle Tower model, who literally says this: "The Battle Maison is still popular among trainers, but there are plans to make it a MORE robust and special Facility, called the Battle Frontier".

I don't understand what's the point of this NPC existing, and WHY do the developers want us to think that the Battle Frontier (that they didn't put in the game) will be "more special and robust" than the Battle Maison (that they did put in the game).

I've always defended the Battle Maison/Battle Free as the best Battle Facility, because I truly don't think an entire Battle Frontier is necessary, when you can spend the dev time necessary for it, making other extra content.

In conclusion, I think the Battle Frontier facilities are all too similar to the base Battle Tower, and the ONE facility that is actually different enough, just isn't fun (Battle Pyramid).

You remember that Emerald let's you catch Groudon and Kyogre and ORAS doesn't. ORAS has a lot of new good things going for it, but it also has a number of questionable decisions, and it becomes a game that's very easy to compare to other remakes and Hoenn games and pick apart for what it's missing. It's therefore not a Gen III replacement in the same way one could say that HGSS replaces Gen II. Now obviously HGSS isn't a perfect replacement either, but it comes a lot closer than ORAS does. HGSS brings back areas like Viridian Forest, Cerulean Cave, and the Seafoam Islands, locations people wanted to see return. There's finally a Giovanni appearance. Even though the GS Ball event has been removed, there's still content involving Celebi. There was the PCC in Crystal? Well HGSS has the Global Terminal near where it was. There was online trading in Japanese Crystal? All built-in normally in Gen IV. There were minigames when connecting online in Crystal? The Pokéthlon is now a thing in Goldenrod. Crystal had the Battle Tower? HGSS puts the Battle Frontier in the same spot. Your phone didn't have enough space for everybody? No longer a problem. Animated sprites, a female protagonist, Buena, the Unown stuff, Eusine, a Suicune subplot, it's there. Some of it is done differently, but the thought is there. There's even the Pokéwalker to replace the Pocket Pikachu 2.

Though I've since gone back to Emerald/Platinum to appreciate the Frontier I really didn't care for it at the time gen 6 was current. Was happy the games got remade and they still hold up pretty well today, but OR/AS's legacy would've been a lot stronger if it had been included. I haven't touched OR/AS in a very, very long time.

Fair enough, but I still think that ORAS is a better game than HGSS. Maybe HGSS is a better (more faithful) remake, but ORAS is a better Pokemon game.

Whenever I play HGSS, I feel like I'm playing GSC all over again.

Whenever I play ORAS, I feel like I'm playing a brand new game set in Hoenn. Sure, it may have the same base plot like RSE more or less, but the presence of DexNav, Soaring, 40-ish new Mirage Islands, Mega Evolutions, Primal Reversions, greatly expanded Secret Bases and Contests, new moves and abilities, Delta Episode, revamped Mauville City, etc... all of this makes me feel like ORAS added A LOT more new content than HGSS (which only really added the Pokeathlon, Voltorb Flip, and 2 New routes for Johto).

I still respect HGSS a lot, and it's one of my favorite Pokemon games, but I prefer ORAS.

I think that's the defining factor though. HGSS is a game that is like "How can we supercharge GSC and remain respectful while doing it?". When playing it, I was shocked at how many things they included that I WANTED to see as a kid, I wanted to find Mewtwo, the Legendary birds, the Kanto fossils and starters, and I wanted the Safari Zone and these other areas that just were no longer there. I wanted Giovanni to show up, he was missing. It actually makes Lorelei and Agatha being absent all the weirder. But HGSS is Gen II but (mostly) better because it was made with a lot of respect for its legacy.

ORAS doesn't quite feel that way. Yeah, they were more of a new game than HGSS, but some of that feels like they didn't respect the original. It was more like "let's trying making this Hoenn game again and it resembles our previous Hoenn games but it's more like another attempt than a strict love letter", and because of that, it doesn't build upon everything that existed, it just outright replaces things. Even in terms of designs and characterization, characters like Shelly and Courtney are just completely different characters that happen to share the same basic roles and names, and they were already splitting the role depending on your version anyway. Instead of building upon the Courtney that existed, they just made a weird autist. There are very tiny passing references to a handful of the things that didn't make the cut, but they were cut because they couldn't fit it in time and gave just the briefest of acknowledgement. Even the story of how quickly ORAS was made and why it was made makes it seem half-hearted and superfluous. Compare to HGSS, where Gen II remakes are hinted at as far back as January 2004, and prototypes exist as early as 2006, they were in the works for a long time.

ORAS was made in 1 year, but it was made by a staff of 100 people (confirmed in interviews by Ohmori). HGSS was made in maybe 2 years (?) but by a much smaller number of people.

So I think this evens them out.

I do agree with some other things you say, but in retrospect, I think by the time of ORAS, Game Freak had already moved away from "pure remakes". That's maybe why ORAS kinda feels like a new game set in Hoenn. And that's also probably why Gen 4 didn't get a Game Freak-made remake at all and got PLA instead.
