Power creep and a lot of older Pokemon's base stats don't make sense after the split. Gamefreak never bothered to fix them.

There are even Pokemon from recent generations that need to be unfucked.
And no, the "KANNNNNNTOOOOOO bonus" won't apply. If Game Freak was stubborn about Poliwrath having Close Combat then the chances of an old-gen Pokemon getting a stats overhaul is non-existent.
