I think it's a case of the damage already being done.
They can't change Mega Venusaur now when its design was based on the old 3DS model, even its key art looks like that.

I disagree, every new SV model looks better than the garbage 3ds models and SWSH models aka the 3DS ones with new textures

Not at all. Charizard was a premier Pokemon in Sword/Shield, then they overhauled its model in Scarlet/Violet.
They can easily just recreate the model in Gen 10 like they apparently are for Pikachu. Would be nice for Champions.
Speaking of Champions, if a Pokemon's model gets tweaks or new animations, I'm sure they can just throw it into Champions in a future update.
...Whether or not they will is another question entirely.

I'm not saying Mega Venusaur is too important to change, I'm saying there's nothing to change because Mega Venusaur's design was already based on the old model.
Compare MVenusaur's art to the new Venusaur model, MVenusaur's face is more consistent with the 3DS model. The design is just inherently fucked like that.

Pretty much this; they put a grand majority of their time on new models while giving previous ones a slight face lift. It's a time/cost cutting measure to get the game out on time (despite said delay to prepare it for the Switch 2 enhancement).
