>>58882541This is a universal thing with Pokemon games to be fair. When was the last time a Pokemon game has challenged you? I personally haven't found a fight in a Pokemon game actually difficult since I was a kid.
Actually, if anything, I like having a few trainers with levels that are significantly lower than the rest so that I can use them to level up new team members who are behind. Of course, this is from the perspective of someone who has played these games a number of times, so I know where they are and whatnot, so there's still a valid criticism to be made there.
Also, unrelated to the initial thread topic, but it's worth mentioning that there is far more to the campaign than that. One of the reasons I adore the Johto games, especially HGSS, is that there is ALWAYS something to do. Sure, you could progress the story, or you could explore this optional side area and discover a new Pokemon, participate in a bug-catching contest, talk to a guy who wasn't there yesterday so that you can get a unique item, find Lapras in the deepest part of a cave you thought you had already cleared, play the Pokeathlon, and so on. The fact that every day there's something new to do gives it a life-sim sort of appeal that other Pokemon games lack. It could be compared to Rune Factory in a sense. The RPG elements are there, yes, but the appeal of the game is just fundamentally different to other Pokemon games.
It's an acquired taste for that reason, but I personally find it to be the best experience the series has to offer.
