I always avoided trade evos because they reset the mon's happiness value, even if it was your mon in the first place. Like they get PISSED at you for trading them.

Maybe in the earlier games, I know in later Gens, if you trade evo a pokémon and send it back, the game flashes text up welcoming it back to you, so I/m sure it records the rest its stats it had when you sent it.

From gen 6 onwards, if you trade away a pokemon and get it back, it'll retain its happiness with you, but only if you're the OT. If you're not the OT, or if you're playing gens 2 to 5, its happiness value will reset.

No idea if the happiness stat reset but this is probably because trainer ID, secret ID and name match with the pokemon
