It's almost funny reading through the list where just one out of every fifty pokemon, they just decide to keep the Japanese name intact. There are so many they changed for the strangest reasons but other ones they just kinda kept intact for equally odd reasons. Also for some reason all of the legendaries retain their original name for the most part after Gen 1.
