it was awesome.
and yeah I know they had to trim it down a bit to fit it on a gbc cartridge, but i never noticed that as a kid, at least not until I got to where viridian forest wouldve been,
and even then it didn't bother me (and still doesnt) because holy shit, two whole regions to explore and conquer
i remember being super disappointed with RSE only having one region, with like half of it being water, although to be fair hoenn's routes cover a lot of ground and most of em have a lot to explore and i grew to appreciate it a lot more over time
the johto games have a special place in my heart just on account of how huge they feel, especially when i was a kid
when hgss was announced it was the most excited i had ever been for a new game (and has yet to be topped). game didn't disappoint, best game in the series if you ask me.
