I admit I've never thought much of the ancillary stuff for the movie because none of it factors into the final story, but I can't deny it is also very cool to see this silly show produce something with any significant build-up. I wonder how many people actually listened to this or read Ono's prequel manga back in the day and then got to compare it to the actual movie.
