I like that interview they did with the art director where they mentioned that sawk was the only planned pokemon cut from the movie because they were unable to make it look like a believable living creature.

I think they should have had more sinnoh mons. The giant torterras were very weird once you get past the referencino and the only other thing I noticed was some kind of cherubi themed store in a background shot

anon the movie production started in the xy era where the only two regions allowed to get shilled was kanto and unova. The movie wold have to have been made a couple years later if you wanted sinnoh to get some love

Too normalfaggy. The whole premise of the city is that you pretty much "marry" a pokemon to be your "partner" and they were too pussy to feature Gardevoir or Lopunny likely to not alienate the normalfags watching the movie.
Also seeing Omar Chaparro with a Charizard made me lose my shit.

The movie was in development around 2017 and released in 2019, Gardevoir didn't become a major shillmon until late 2019, when the dexcut made them focus more on the most popular mons

It handled the story better than the Detective Pikachu game. The main character was more likeable and one of those rare instances a race swap worked. Didn't play Detective Pikachu 2 so unsure if that gave the mystery a better conclusion than the movie did. I mean the conclusion was better than the non-conclusion the first game had, perhaps the sequel game fixed that.
I would've wanted a sequel.
