PMD also framed Darkrai’s nightmare control as being able to distort timespace.
Plus Darkrai was already sort of associated with the Kalos legends. It has the same eyes, color scheme, and fluff as Yveltal, and Gamefreak used the Kalos legendary theme to promote an event for it back in 2014.
