It could be a solid 9/10 game with smooth 60fps and an expansive world, and the internet will still shit on it and call it "slop". The forced anti-Pokemon hate is that bad at this point. They will just laser-focus on a few examples of lower-res textures, or call the gameplay "boring" with no elaboration.

At this point I don't think Game Freak could counter this narrative unless they somehow released an 11/10 world-beating GOTY-candidate that completely reinvents the franchise in a Zelda/Xenoblade style, and that's never happening.
