Unfortunately, Gardevoir hasn't been the ever-loyal elegant androgynous elven magiknight it was initially conceived as since the very beginning of RS.
They changed trajectory HARD after Fate/stay night dropped and basically proved the concept could be extremely waifuable, given similarities with Saber.

TPC didn't give a fuck about it in gen 3. the only reason wally got it was because it had green hair like him. the anime only did the a generic "mon of the week" episode with it, got no merch, nothing.
its popularity was genuine from coomers and normies because it was an early route psychic that had a cute evo line so people wanted to fuck it.
when TPC saw that, they gave it an evo to further cultivate popularity. they saw an opportunity and took.

Ignores the majority of the fanbase saw it as a waifu, thus TPC adapted and shifted their presentation, to better profit off those people. See the same with feralifags currently, unable to even entertain the concept of "no-one outside you drones give a fuck about the thing", leading to them getting VERY upset its mega form ended up becoming a massive regression to its base stage, because more of their actual paying audience preferred it.

Cute design, but also a cool fighter with its mega. I got endeared to one in particular since I would have my lopunny follow me around while I was building stuff in pixelmon, hand built a whole ass island with it sitting around behind me. I can't complain too much since they probably knew what it was when they released the game but it makes it difficult to simply like it.

How is that not answering the question?
