>>58933171I wanted the Chinese elements to correspond with Pokémon types.
Wood = Grass; Fire = Fire, Earth = Ground/Rock; Metal = Steel; Water = Water
I even considered making it a requirement that the dragons had to be Dragon type, but that'd mean excluding Gyarados and Charizard, which are basically the platonic ideal of a Water Dragon and a Fire Dragon respectively, so I loosened that up a bit.
I was kinda aprehensive about making Hydrapple the Wood Dragon bc I'm half-expecting Flapple and Appletun to get evolutions now and they'd also probably fit the bill, but I guess Hydrapple is already the first among equals.
Terrakion as Earth Ox is good too , and Bibarel as Water Rat works too, everything else is a stretch though.
Legendaries/mythicals and regional/alternate forms in general feel like they shouldn't count, but I kinda had to give up on that bc c'mon was I supposed to pretend there's no Pokémon that fits the "water horse" and "fire buffalo" bill perfectly just because they're a mythical/regional variant respectively?
