If they ever made a classic styled game, would you want them to keep any QoL and later additions like the Physical/Special split?

If by classic style you mean Gen II mechanics then I would really only care about having Hyper Training to boost IVs up to competitive viability

Yes. Why would you not? If they could combine the HGSS bag layout and stuff with some Gen 6 features like the PSS, you'd have a pretty good foundation.
