So with Gen 10 looming I've been thinking a lot about this again and have some thoughts. The subject of this thread is broad - feel free to share any hopes you have for Ground-type Pokemon.
Anyway, here are a couple to get started:
>picrel
It would cure my symmetry OCD if we got a Fire/Ground starter that wasn't as bad as Camerupt and less restricted than Groudon. That being said, I haven't liked a lot of the starter designs we've had more recently so I'd be okay kicking this can down the road.
>Bug/Ground
We need more representatives of this type. I don't even care if it ends up an early route Bug shitmon. Maybe a trapdoor spider, maybe a mole cricket, maybe a millipede or an earwig - I don't care too much. I just would really like to see something.
>Ground-type support mon
This is a big one for me. As someone who likes making entirely Ground-type teams, the lack of supportive Ground-types is a constraint on team composition. Moves like Trick Room and Gravity are very useful for Ground-type Pokemon but the Ground-types that can actually learn them is extremely restricted. Similarly other more generally supportive moves are extremely limited or non-existent in Ground-types. So it would be pretty nice for a design or two with a lot more supportive options.
