Well yeah the idea of Retro Gaming is subjective. For me, a game has to be around 15 to be considered retro.
So right now, I don't consider B2W2 or XY retro. But if it makes you feel better, in two years XY will be considered retro to me. And even when I have to consider XY retro, it will still have more in common with Gens 7-9/10 than Gens 1-5.

I've done some berry growing in gen 4, but never bothered with the mulch stuff either. I think I was gonna try the Growth Mulch once but the reduced cycle time meant going to sleep would make be miss a watering and get a smaller crop, can't remember. None of them seem worth it imo
