here's my wack secret base and underground stats.
digging up 100 fucking fossils probably took like 25-30 hours i think, but it was fine. i'm trying to get all base decorations too and mr. goods gives you a red crystal for grinding this nonsense https://bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net/wiki/Mr._Goods#Crystals

yeah it's so much more grindy past the trainer card if you care about the decorations. gifting 100 items, 'meeting' 100 other players (pretty much what you do for spiritomb), digging up all the fossils etc
there's also a second set of type-plates you can get down there after the credits on top of the ones you can find in the overworld

yeah you can dig up fossils entirely solo lol.

the underground has no connection to wfc anyway, it's either solo or local wireless only. you'll need a second ds and game if you want the trainer star/platinum flag/trainer star/full-sized secret base/etc, but digging up and restoring fossils is all solo

afaik the easiest way is to set up an unencrypted hotspot with your phone. or if you have a modded 3ds, i'd just inject it to your save with pksm

Not sure. Porygon Z is my favorite Pokèmon so I’m definitely using it and I like pretty much all of the Sinnoh Pokemon so I might just go in without a team planned which is a rarity for me. Will look over the Plat Dex later to see. Any recommendations?

I hate how expensive these games have become, but emulation for me produces this kind of netflix feeling where everything feels kind of vapid and sterile.
If some chink factory figured out how to produce unofficial cards that used Parallel NOR Flash instead of shitty SPI flash with microcontrollers I'd buy another 5 cards.

i know what you mean about the prices, luckily i guess i got hit by the nostalgia wave a bit earlier than everyone else and bought a bunch of pokemon-related crap in 2017 before the prices became exorbitant. even then, i felt dumb paying like 40+ dollars for an extra copy of emerald, but it was def worth it lol

just to let you know, GBA repros have come a long way, and if you look in the right areas you can absolutely find repros that use flash memory instead of SRAM saving, the latter being famous for dropping saves and corruption.
The DS is much harder to do this with bc thats when Nintendo started getting annoying about encryption and codes that the card needs to translate from the system

Just beat 21 Palmer
Then almost got my shit pushed in the very next match. I had to spam Latias' Recover until the enemy TrickScarfed Pokemon went into Struggle... twice
the jump in difficulty is brutal lol

Latias Gengar Garchomp. The Garchomp is actually pretty good, Gengar and Latias aren't even EV trained and iirc Latias has a -speed nature lol
The team isn't even set in stone between these 3. Sometimes I go with Garchomp lead, other times Gengar lead, other times Latias goes first... currently thinking of setting Latias as lead but I'm wondering what items to go with. Feels kinda crappy to have Focus Sash on a non-lead, and I prefer Gengar with Life Orb
I need to make some posts with more details later

Dead at 46, alongside my hopes for a 100 streak for the card.
Past 21 the tower is pretty rough but manageable, but as I approached 50 it was really noticeable how the bad stats on my pokemon were hindering me
as mentioned, I have a pretty good Garchomp I bred but I was making do with a 16 year old Walmart Gengar and Temu Latias. I could improve both of them slightly with EVs but it's obvious the subpar natures would be hard to deal with in the long run.
