But you're right, their direction for the franchise had already shifted by then. The EXP share was on its way in, HMs and the national dex were on their way out, and when GO got the popularity that it did that was the end. Turbocasuals that cared about catching endless disposable Pokemon and nothing else were the new target demographic.
