Almost done taking a bunch of guys up from HG/Pt through the Ultra games. I feel no rush once they’re in Home so I’ll take a break after they arrive to catalog everything.

I’m getting ribbons on them, some but not all are shiny.
I like having pokemon with ribbons that can’t be gotten on something someone just goes and catches. They’ve got a little story and journey to them that the bottlecapped incineroar stuffed full of vitamins in 5 minutes you meet online doesn’t.

I'm playing Pearl on a save file with the cute charm glitch. I just did some tweaking to reach Sunyshore City early to get a Mantyke. I'm trying to use Pokemon I've never used before but there aren't many at this point.

I think I got insanely lucky with HG back in 2014. The game was already sold out across the country and there was this online shop that had it for backorder. I waited for months to get HG and Platinum but in the end, they were only able to get HG so I got a completely new and sealed copy of HG and had to get a 2nd hand platinum copy

I only played Heart Gold off a flashcart as a kid. I said fuck it and paid $120 for a HeartGold a couple years ago. I already have multiple of the Gen 3, Gen 4 Sinnoh games, and Gen 5 games, and HG or SS were the last ones I didn't own.

i don't think it works for shiny hunting. when i tried it, if you have both the legendaries there and then leave the room and come back, only one will be left. so i assume the same happens if you save and quit. i didn't risk testing that, obviously.

What are all the shiny hunting methods in HGSS and are they any less frustrating than FRLG?

Wanted to SR for a shiny starter but with the 8100 chance and nothing to make it easier, I got frustrated pretty fast by the second day of just soft resetting.

So far I'm aware of SR a starter, just wild encounters and Masuda Method and apparently, unlike the other Gen 4 games, there's no poke radar here to chain encounters.

Will a PokeHex'd japanese Ditto work fine?
When SRing starters, do you have to go to the Summary screen to check?

nah, you can see if they're shiny or not when cycling through their pokeballs. it's quick

besides that, hgss are some of the easiest games to egg rng abuse in for both shinies and good ivs
