Nintendo finally grew a spine and told them to get their shit together for the Switch 2.

The whole point of the console is it's just a more powerful Switch, they don't want Gamefreak fucking that image up by making another early ps3 game.

Isn't their new game using Unreal Engine? Maybe they switched for Pokemon too. Regardless if they did, going from the water they made for Scarlet and Violet to this isn't that big of a jump technology speaking, just some tweaking, and instructions on how to do it has been easy to find since forever. It just takes time to implement.

They put in minimal effort because they were expecting the Switch to flop. When it didn't, they ended up making themselves and Nintendo look bad, and now that the Switch 2 is here, the pressure is on them to actually try this time around.

Masuda was sacked midway through XY’s dev cycle, and was only allowed to work on LGPE (the best looking Switch Pokemon game before WW). The games would have looked ten times better under him.

The water looks nice but the rest of the environments aren't particularly impressive for a modern game, I'm not really a graphics fag though so it isn't a huge deal.

Solely it's because GF always does this. They wait until the new console has a large userbase before releasing their Pokemon game. It was the same story with Sword and Shield taking like 2 and a half years after the Switch launched.

And then way back with the 3DS and XY it was the same period of waiting like 2 years.
