Is GameFreak just shit at making 3D open world games, or did the series just not transfer well into 3D?

What is it about a gen's third game that doesn't sell? Also wtf /vp/ told me Emerald and Platinum are some of the best in the entire series.

Gamefreak just doesn't know how to make games and they're too stuck up to allow for outside help. They had 160 employees 3 years ago, only up to around 200 now. like no wonder shit doesnt get done

Falcom has 65 employees, went all-in on 3D at around the same time as Pokemon, and makes better-looking (and better-playing) games than Game Freak. This has never been a valid excuse.

if gamefreak didnt have pokemon, itd be one of the many studios that died with the switch to hd development

Majority of people who play Pokemon will do the story and then stop and be done with that game. As such the idea of basically the same game but with minor changes isn't appealing. This is why the later games that reused assets (B2W2, USUM) tried to make the actual story playthrough experience feel different.

A lot of people stop after the ending, they don't want to play basically the same game again for the Battle Frontier.

Its why that sort of stuff is moved to DLC rather than a 3rd version.
