i think it will be a better and more polished game than either of the switch titles but i still anticipate the gameplay problems i've had with the modern series to remain

How is this a "modern series" problem though? Like the classic games pretty much peak at BW in character complexity and yet everyone there is still pretty boring and lack interesting character dynamics. The series kind of has always sucked scriptwriting wise.

Weirdly, I’m kind of hopeful. I’m keeping my expectations realistic though. It’s Game Freak, they’ll probably find a way to fuck up in ways we’ve never seen before.
