No, unlike every other spin off its co-developed by Game Freak. We know they have been developing this idea for years so it's more like they are the idea guys while Koei Tecmo uses their DQ Builders expertise to do all the asset work.

Time Stranger is a good game if we're ignoring the fact this game was developed for almost a decade, which wasn't that distinct visual and gameplay-wise from Cyber Sleuth/Hacker's Memory.

Then again Survive took half a decade to make, which was even more baffling and memory-holed.

Switch 2 isn't getting cracked open until WW in 2027, thus Pokopia can spend all of 2026 relishing in the sales it'll get from being a game you can't pirate.
In fact, that's probably WHY WW is 2027, to delay the inevitable that'll hurt the Switch 2 as a whole, without completely killing the Pokemon schedule flow.

Pokopia is basically a GameFreak game, it's just being developed by someone else. The whole idea of using KANTOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO as the setting wouldn't be possible if GameFreak wasn't heavily involved, and thus, because of their involvement, they have the leeway to potentially tie exclusive Pokemon to this game, and there's already asset reuse potential for such because the Pokemon icons are the same as mainline Pokemon.

the only way i could see it happening if it was a ranger situation where it was coming out nearly parallel with gen 10, but its not, so theres no reason for them to include something like that, the purpose was "ooo buy this game now so you have a cool pokemon in dp in just a few months". wind/waves isnt coming out for over a year so its basically advertising nothing since it wont be out for ages and by the time its out pokopia will be old news. it just seems like a pointless idea

Champions releases in April, mate, they already have a "very close to release" game to tie a Pokopia exclusive to. It'd be their easy ticket to monetizing the metagame even more by making said exclusive extremely powerful or must have in some way, and then they can start rolling out the marketing that says you can get special goodies for sending the Pokopia exclusive to WW.

It's Banco. They have tendency for abandoning their IPs and massive amounts of jewery. Tho iirc Nintendo just bough 80% of Namco Singapure studios and is planning to acquire the remaining 20% in the near future. With that in mind, I'm curious what we gonna see from them. Snap was great, but they also had massive fuck up in the form of work on Metroid Prime 4 so shitty that Nintendo was forced to pry work from their hands and give it back to the original team.
