It's Kanto after humanity fucked off from Kanto after it became unsutiable to sustain life (IIRC, it's supposedly set in the far far future from when we see Kanto in Gen 1/3).

PMD doesn't imply that. Everyone knows what a human is and isn't shocked by the existence of one in contemporary times.
If anything, it implies some weird alternate universe where humans and pokemon never lived together in the first place.

Kinda reminds me of those ultra worm holes where shit went bad like Guzzlord's hole where it was munching on garbage from a long destroyed Alola region where some kinda power plant experiment fucked the entire region over

I guess the most accurate way to put it is that pokepiea is another elseworld removed from the mainline games where pokemon and humanity still florish together

Pretty much confirmed the human you're taking the form of was the Ditto's former Trainer (Likely a girl in universe, since all the marketing uses the female design of the human form Ditto)

Such a disappointment in Gen II to not see anything built there. Even greater disappointment in Gen IV to STILL have nothing built there despite the massive expansions to Kanto. I feel like they could've directly ported over contests from DPPt and put the contest hall there.
