>>59020266I pirated the JP rom as soon as the antipiracy was patched out. I couldn't read moonrunes so I had to guess and check my way through the game. In a weird way it felt a lot like my first playthrough of Gen 1 as a kid.
>Pokemon wants to learn a new move!>What does it do?>Oh well, only way to find out is learn it and use it in battle.Status moves and buffs and and debuffs were a mystery (remember, there was no in game way to check your stats raises mid battle until Gen 7).
Also because I couldn't read what the NPCs said, I basically just had to walk around and talk to every NPC to find my way through the game. There was a huge sense of exploring the unknown that, again, I hadn't felt since Gen 1. I'm not sure I could enjoy a game like that again in the modern age. In college I had all the free time in the world to bumble my way through a game slowly; my free time is a lot more limited now. Still, it was a fun experience. Gen 5 is probably my favorite Gen overall.
