>>59023503I'm totally fine with suspending my disbelief for worldbuilding's sake, but this particular case conflicts with lore from ORAS's Delta Episode. If we were to believe that the pokeworld is so advanced and has so many resources at its disposal to evacuate all of humanity into space, then they could have built a couple hundred Infinity Energy nukes to shield the meteor off as a backup if Plan A with the Cable Link fails.
I know GF isn't good at math (regarding certain Dex entries), but at least they could make the setting more believable and impactful.
Humanity has to evacuate into space to ensure the species' survival. Unfortunately, only a couple thousand people (if we're generous, a million) can be saved. The rest must be left behind. Those saved will be put in stasis until Earth has recovered so mankind can repopulate later again. One of the lucky ones chosen for the conservation program happens to be the trainer of the Ditto we play as. If we should add more drama, then something went wrong with the rockets or spacestation and the humans didn't manage to return yet, resulting in the failsafe releasing all pokemon from their digital prisons. For the environmentalist agenda they're pushing, there are also no stakes involved. Everyone is saved, no one dies, every damage done to the environment can be reversed, even the bad guys are good now (what's with GF whitewashing criminal groups of late?).
