I mean, aside from official releases, that Teraleak showed them still buggering with them as well as seemingly deciding on a schism of sorts and keeping the paired games the babby-tier ones easy for kids and casuals and the Legends series for older kids still interested in their shit, but not interested in being called a baby fucker for it (and to be fair, most the mega battles were grand, but they increased the bullshit factor on a few, with how dogshit a pokémon they were based off).

And while a fair few casuals may be "of the era" so to speak, I can safely guarantee none of the kids are and as theyre who the franchise actually focuses on, a BW3 would not in fact be the best/most logical option, because none to core fucking audience would have a fucking clue what was going on, who the fuck those people were and why they should care. In fact, for a BW3 to appear, they'd need to do BW1+2 first, to inform the current core audience of what was going on, before then expanding onto BW3. mind, it's a moot point, game Freak admitted it was nothing but a rehash, despite being dressed differently to others and they never remake rehashes (because the important project the rehash got birthed out of was the development of an entire new Generation).
