>>59036721You basically need to have played BW1 to get the full context of the game, as its a sequel. People often say you should only play b2w2, but its incomplete without it. Like watching Empire Strikes back without watching New Hope first.
But the games on the whole are greater than the sum of their parts. Supplementing the meh Unova dex with past pokemon opened up team building, and since the starters don't have a clear stand-out most popular, B2W2 has some of the widest team variety possible. From Unova debutantes like Scrafty, Sigiliph, Scolipede, Buffolant, Klingklang, and Whimsicott, to returners like Arcanine, Flygon, Ampharos, Lucario, and Magmar, you've got a lot of choices.
The story is meh if you didn't play BW1, a lot of the thematics build off the previous game, with the cynical faction of team plasma simply deciding to become pirate lords and take over unova by force.
The expanded unova region really pays dividends with extra detail put into it, the little things like the random street performers, the seasons that change how the game looks and how routes play, etc.
They put a lot of love into the region and you can tell.
The PWT isn't super in-depth in terms of postgame content but frankly, its exactly what a pokemon game needs for post game, a fun little hurrah with some battling of old NPCs with new renditions of their tracks in the new soundfont, and then they wave goodbye.
Also the game is just fucking oozing with music. Street performers, different tracks for rare wild pokemon, random bangers like Colress' theme, GF went all out with B2W2. Its just a damn solid game.
