I was talking about this being a trend with his games years ago and it seems like only recently other people have caught on. Kind of surprising in retrospect he didn't alter Norman's character in ORAS to be more of an "assertive" parental figure.

None of the RS characters had new family trauma elements, but Zinnia is more or less haunted by dead mommy issues, as was confirmed in an issue of Nintendo Dream where he says Aster the Whismur got her name from Zinnia's lorekeeper predecessor. He literally can't resist doing this shit.

Silver's daddy issues were a manga construct and weren't applied to the games until Gen 4..
Absolutely nothing in GSC imply Silver had a familial connection to anyone in Team Rocket, he was just an edgelord who was an implied victim of Team Rocket's criminal activity given his specific hatred for them.

Not every child gets a free rare and powerful Pokemon from their region's professor, champion or some associate of such people.
Most have to wait until their parents trust them enough to give them a Poke Ball or a set of balls so they can try and catch a local shitter mon around their town/city, and then see if they can actually do anything with said shitter that allows them to actually sustain a living out in their region.
