That peanut Pokemon does look pretty cool but it looks a bit too similar to Breloom so understandable why it was cut.

i mean with regional forms and convergent species and shit this is no longer a good argument. plus even before this there were pokemon who looked really similar without being related such as wigglytuff and clefable, and luvdisc and alomomola

That Gen 5 used to have a perfectly well designed 3 stage water Pokemon that uses a shell as a weapon but then they put fucking Samurott in the game instead.

It's basically Breloom+Sunflora and the dilophosaur niche was eventually covered by Heliolisk, still a pity cause on its own it's a great design.

Supposedly it was cut for looking to much like a character in another franchise, but I can't put my finger on who that would be.
Tyrunt was also changed for supposedly looking too much like Agumon.
